Evolve Prosthetics & Orthodontics provides standard and customized Aspen spinal braces to Las Vegas and Henderson, NV residents with painful conditions. A spinal brace is an orthotic appliance that can help stabilize injured or weakened spinal vertebrae, limit spine movement to alleviate pain, and delay the progression of degenerative spine disorders. These devices also include custom back braces specially designed by your Evolve physician to address unique aspects of your spine disorder.
Braces For Your Upper Spine
An upper spinal brace is a type of cervical collar that fits comfortably around your neck and the base of your neck. Comprised of vertebrae C1 through C7 and the area where the base of your skull meets the top of your spine (occipitocervical area), the upper spine may need bracing treatment due to whiplash, disc degeneration, extreme strain, or nerve root impingement.

Conditions Aspen Orthotics & Prosthetics Treat
An Aspen standard or custom back brace are frequently needed to treat the following lower spine disorders:
- Compression fractures: to ensure proper healing of spinal compression fractures, orthotics are almost always prescribed to stabilize and support injured vertebrae and back muscles. Wearing a brace is especially important if you have osteoporosis and have suffered a spinal fracture. Neglecting to treat compression fractures could result in your spine collapsing and curving.
- Spondylosis: a type of spinal disk degeneration attributed to osteoarthritis; spondylosis can also affect the cervical and mid-back spine. However, pain and stiffness are usually felt with lumbar spondylosis only. This is an age-related lower spine disorder often seen in people over 50. A brace is recommended to delay the progression of spondylosis while supporting vertebrae weakened by osteoarthritis.
- Herniated disk: a herniated vertebral disk leaks fluid that flattens the disk enough to allow vertebrae to scrape against each other during spinal movement. Spinal bracing relieves the pain, muscle weakness, and tingling sensation in your legs caused by a herniated disk.
- Lumbar stenosis: when the space around the spinal cord narrows due to osteoarthritis, tumors, or rheumatoid arthritis, you may experience weakness, numbness, and pain in your lower back, hips, and upper legs. These symptoms emerge when the space contracts enough to start compressing nerves. Lumbar stenosis pain worsens when you stand or walk and may decrease when sitting or lying down.
